What Salvation is NOT:
- Being a good person
- Church membership
- Association with a certain group or family
The Bible clearly states that no one will be saved because of his or her own personal merit or good works.
What Salvation IS:
Trusting in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life. What we realize and commit to:
I) Heaven is a free gift that is not earned or deserved.
...the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God's gift-- not from works, so that no one can boast.
II) Mankind is sinful and therefore no one can save himself or herself.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
III) God is merciful and does not want to punish us, but He is also just and must punish sin.
God is love.
1 John 4:8b
He will not leave the guilty unpunished
IV) Jesus Christ is the infinite God-Man who died on the cross and rose from the dead to pay the penalty for our sins and purchase a place in heaven for us.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...The Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We observed His glory, the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:1, 14
We all went astray like sheep; we all have turned to our own way; and the LORD has punished Him for the iniquity of us all.
V) The key to eternal life is faith (not mere head knowledge or temporal faith, but trusting in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life).
Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.
